what to bring

Ark Eden has been running holiday camps for children aged 5 – 10 years since 2008. These camps have become very popular and now generally run over every school holiday throughout the year.

Most camps take place at our accredited Forest School site – a valley garden in the foothills of Mui Wo, Lantau Island, but sometimes we go on journeys to beaches, waterfalls and other islands.

Our camps mostly run Monday to Friday and are day-camps. In the winter, on some Thursday nights we have over-night wild camps and sleep in tents.

our camp philosophy

COMPASSIONATE LIVING

Our camps emphasize care for themselves, each other and for the earth - bringing out compassionate, curious, creative and adventurous learners

IMAGINATIVE PLAY

We emphasize creative thinking through play - prioritizing inquiry based learning & play where children choose their own activities, invent their own games and unleash their curiosity

PROBLEM SOLVING THROUGH STORY TELLING

Our days are often themed, tied together with story drama' where children are thrown into some form of adventure allowing them to think creatively and solve problems

RE CONNECT WITH NATURE

Children spend time in nature, connecting to themselves and the natural world around them allowing them to 'be free' and destress and unplug from their devices and the pressure of school.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT

We learn skills experientially – nature crafts, how to make things from wood and plants, how to cook and what we can eat from nature, how to make a fire and many other amazing things.

EMOTIONAL WELL BEING

We focus on ensuring that each child's needs are cared for while also helping children to build agency and take responsibility for their own well being, to recognize cues and develop tools to care for themselves, others and the natural world around them.

SAFETY FIRST

Ark Eden has a strict 1:8 child to facilitator ratio, and groups of children are broken into smaller groups of 10-14 children per group. Our leaders are Wilderness First Aid trained and there is a comprehensive First Aid kit on site with contingency plans in place.
